Coastal Scents Friday Sale

....and yet another sale that I can't partake in! C'mon Easter! Get here already!! LOL!

Coastal Scents (http://www.coastalscents.com/) is having a 20% off sale on their Creative Me #1 Palette. I believe the sale is only good for today, March 12, 2010.

The palette comes with a mirror and the colors are interchangeable with other "Hot Pots" that are sold by Coastal Scents
I personally have not tried this palette or any of the "Hot Pots" , but I have heard many great things about them. They are affordable, very pigmented and of course, many of the colors are dupes for MAC eyeshadows.

I recently swapped with someone on MUA for 7 "Hot Pots" and I am really excited about getting them and testing them out. I should have them any day now. If I like them, which I am sure I will, I will be ordering some from Coastal Scents.

I've ordered many things from Coastal Scents and have always been happy with my purchases and the customer service. Their shipping could be a little lower, but other than that, I have no complaints.

Until next time...

Makeup Looks

I thought I would share some of my looks with you guys. I don't remember what products I used, but going forward, any FOTD's I post will include a list of everything I use in case any one is interested. Enjoy!!!

This was an entry to my first makeup contest back in 2008. I was recreating a Jennifer Lopez look. I wish I could find the pic now.

This is just an everyday look for me. I love to wear browns, golds, bronzes, etc.

I think this was the first time I ever really "played" with a lot of color. This is a rainbow look I created for a contest in early 2009.

This is one of my FAVE looks. I love the lashes I used...I was pretty sure that I could fly with them on. HA!!!

I was just playing with makeup one day and created this. I can't draw to save my life, but I think this turned out okay.

I saw MakeupbyRenRen do this look and I loved it so much I had to recreate it! I used those crazy lashes again!! They are so dramatic!

Red and Black Challenge. I was too lazy and did only one eye! HA

Oh, those Winter Blues!!! Please excuse the yucky zit I have on my lip! EWWW!!

This was my "Going to see NKOTB" look. I went to see them in October 2008 and that was the first time I saw them since I was 13 years old. Love those guys!!

My New Eye Makeup Remover

Lately I've been reading about the benefits of using Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) for skincare. It contains Vitamins A & E; it protects the skin; it's very gently to the skin; does not contain harsh chemicals, etc.

About two weeks ago, I gave it a shot as an eye makeup remover since I was out of my usual stuff. I have to tell you that I freakin love this stuff!! I pour just a little bit of oil onto a cotton ball; rub it on my lids and it removes ALL of my eye makeup!!! WOO HOO!!!

Ladies, save your money on those expensive eye makeup removers! I highly recommend using olive oil...if it gets along with your skin. I've had no issues using the Olive Oil, but I know that everyone's skin type is diferent, so use your best judgment!

Makeup Storage

I don't know about you guys, but I love to watch videos and/or read blogs about makeup storage. I am always looking for new ideas and have learned a lot by watching vids and reading other blogs.

Here are some pictures of part of my current makeup storage. It's not perfect, but it works for now. I pretty much know where everything is..well sorta kinda! HA! I am using two dressers to store almost everything. If only I could just take over the entire closet....=0)

I use a lot of little drawer organizers which you can find just about anywhere - Walmart, Target, KMart, etc. I have even found a lot of useful containers at the Dollar Store. I am all about finding a good bargain!

My dream is to have a makeup room of my own, but for now; the closet and dressers will do. I gotta get rid of these kids! They take up too much space! LOL!!

Review: Tarte Clean Slate t5 Infused Natural Face Primer

I think I have found my HG Face Primer!! YES!!! I recently bought the Tarte Clean Slate t5 Infused Natural Face Primer and have been using it everyday for about a month now. I absolutely love everything about it.

Let's start with the packaging! I love that it comes in a package where you have to squeeze the product out versus using a pump. I've tried several primers that have pumps and I find that once you use about 1/2 of the product; it's very difficult to get any product out using the pump. I ended up using part of the pump to scoop out the product.

Now on to the product! Per the Tarte Cosmetics website, "This natural primer helps makeup stay in place longer while preventing creasing in fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike other primers, clean slate™ contains natural fruit and plant derived extracts (T5) to treat, protect, sooth and hydrate the skin."

I have to say that I agree with the above statement. It goes on so smoothly and does keep my makeup in place most of the day. By mid-day, I do see a little bit of shine, but other than that, I have had no issues. No breakouts, blemishes, etc. Just so you know, I am 34 (so those fine lines are starting to creep up on me), I have a very oily t-zone, and I recently starting experiencing cystic acne breakouts. Again, I have had no issues with this primer.

The reason I so wanted to get this primer is because it contains no chemicals. Check this out! This primer is:

  • Paraben Free
  • Petro-Chemical Free
  • Pthalate Free
  • Sulfate Free
  • Preservative Free
  • Glycol Free
  • Fragrance Free
  • Gluten Free
  • Dye Free
  • Talc Free

Even though it's supposed to be Fragrance Free, there is a little bit of a light scent; not quite sure how to describe it, but it's not bad at all.
Overall, I love this product and will continue to buy it. It currently retails for $30 and can be purchased at Sephora, Sephora.com, and Tartecosmetics.com.
If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up! I'd be happy to help!
Adios,
Jackee

Get On The Ball

I really need to get on the ball with this whole blogging thing! There is so much I would like to do and I am going to work really hard to accomplish it. Between work, kids and other "cramping my style" things, most times there is little time left to play!!

I'd like to post FOTD's, tutorials, reviews, etc. I know! I know! Everyone is doing the same thing. So how can I be different? How can I bring something new to the table? Perhaps my perspective on things will make it worth reading. I'll try to keep you entertained. LOL!! We'll see!!!

Okay, this is completly off the subject, but I am totally sick of winter. I saw this funny picture and had to share with you all who are buried in snow like me. Enjoy!
