Review: BADgal Lash Mascara by Benefit Cosmetics

What is BADgal Lash Mascara?

The Sephora website describes it as the following:

The BADgal line of mascaras from Benefit are full of "BAD-itude!" The rich, sexy formula and
oversized brush build thick, beautiful and bodacious lashes.

What it does:

• BADgal Lash (the original) is like a set of sexy black false eyelashes...without the glue!
Retails for $19

My Thoughts

I'll just come right out and say it...I don't like this mascara at all.  I just don't think that it delivers what the above referenced statement claims.  I love my lashes to be like ...POW POW WOW!!  LOL!  This mascara does not do that.  I think the big brush is great, but the formula is dry and does not make my lashes look long, think, etc.  It adds a little color, but that's about it.

I have a good use for this mascara and that is...I use it for my lower lashes.  I don't like drama on my lower lashes so purchasing this product has not been a total waste of money.

Overall, if you want drama for your lashes, this is not the mascara to purchase, in my opinion.  You're better off purchasing drugstore mascaras.  For the price of this mascara, you could probably purchase two drugstore mascaras and still have a few bucks left over!!

I've Been Tagged! Beauty Survey

Yay!  I am so excited.  I was tagged by the OH SO BEAUTIFUL ladies of Makeup and Beauty Talk with LisaMarie and Weighing Down on Beauty  to do this beauty survey.  My first official tag!  I love it!  Thanks girls!!  I hope this gives you a chance to get to know me a little more.  Oh, I hope I don't bore you!  HA!!

What's your favorite make up look?

I'd have to say anything dramatic!  I love a lot of color, lashes, sexy smokey eyes, etc.  Unfortunately, I don't get to wear those types of looks often because I work in a pretty conservative office.  Good lawd!  The people at work would go nuts if I walked in with a very bold look.  As a result, I normally wear very natural looks to work.  Now on the weekends...I like to turn it up!  Even if I have nowhere to go.  LOL!

Do you have a beauty vice?

It would have to be eyeshadow!  I AM AN EYESHADOW HOOCHIE!  LOL

What part of your body do you love?

Oh man!  Probably my eyes, because I don't like anything else at the moment! LOL  My eyes are light brown with green flecks in them...hazel 'ish' I guess.

Who is your beauty icon?

I don't have one.  I look at all women for inspiration.  We are all different and express ourselves in different ways.  I can learn something from each and every one.

What beauty product makes you feel instantly good?

Foundation and concealer hands down!

How do you look after your skin?

My routine is pretty simple.  I wash my face with Cetaphil cleanser.  It's inexpensive and does the job well.  For under the eyes, I use an anti wrinkle cream from Garnier.  I'm no longer a spring chicken and need to watch out for those pesky wrinkles!  For a moisturizer, I also use Cetaphil.

I try to exfoliate at least once a week and I just use a Biore cleanser for that.

I've tried a lot of expensive brands for skincare, but really...they've done nothing special for me, so I tend to stick with things I can find at the drugstore.

What is your signature scent?

I love anything vanilla.  Yummy!!  However, lately I've been wearing MAC's Turquatic!

What is your hair care secrets?

My hair is naturally curly, but I straighten it A LOT, so I have to try to keep it from getting fried.  I absolutely love Phyto Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm.  It's the one product that keeps my hair looking good.

How do you pamper yourself?

Shopping for makeup, clothes, shoes, home stuff, etc.,  and New Kids on the Block concerts.  Yes, I am a total Blockhead and have been since I was 12!  Jordan is my fave!  LOL.  I am planning on going on the New Kids on the Block cruise in May next year.

What is your beauty pet peeve?

Foundation that doesn't match.  You know when you can see the color difference between the face and neck?  UGH!  I hate that!

Another one is brows that are not groomed!  Like little caterpillars?  Not a good look ladies!  Groom those babies!

What would your desert island must haves be?

Foundation, Concealer and Jordan Knight (sorry I had to throw that in! HA)

Finally, do you have a beauty philosophy?

I have two:

True beauty comes from within!

There are no rules in makeup!!

So now, who do I tag?  I tag all of you!  I would love to get to know you all better!!!  So go ahead and get started!!

I'm Back

Hey lovelies.  I've been MIA for the past several days and for good reason.  My brother and his family (wife and my nieces- 7 and 4) who I had not seen in almost 2 years came to Michigan for a visit from Delaware.  I was so excited!  They even brought their little Yorkie - Zoe!

They were only here from Friday to Monday, so we tried to pack in as much as possible in that short amount of time.  Everyone had a really good time!  Let's see...we went shopping, swimming/boating on the lake, hit the casinos in Detroit, etc.  Again, it was a great time.

I have some things lined up for the blog, so I am hoping to start tonight...some reviews, FOTD's, hauls, etc.

Hope you're all having a great week so far!  Talk to you soon!

Lipstick and Lipgloss Organization

I am always on the hunt for more efficient ways to store my ever growing makeup collection and like to share what I find with you all! Recently I was catching up on some of MakeupGeek’s posts and came across one about Makeup Storage and Organization. Here is a link to that post:

There was one item in particular that caught my eye and that was the Lipstick Box. The Lipstick Box is a clear plastic box that has dividers inside. It retails for $14.95 each. I think the cost went up a couple dollars because I swear I only paid $12.95. Either that, or I’m just getting old and forgetting things! HA!! Anyway, there are 50 compartments in each box and they are perfect for lipsticks and lipglosses!! The name of the company that sells the boxes is Sharodan, Inc. Their website is http://www.sharodan.com/.

Here are the dimensions of the box directly from the website:

10"x5 1/2"x4"

I ordered two boxes and I was so excited when they arrived. There was even a really nice freebie in there as a token of appreciation from the company. It was a clear cosmetics bag and is perfect for travel.

I was able to fit all of my MAC lipsticks into one box and all of my MAC lipglasses (just the regular size) and Slimshines into the other box. Now my lipstick drawer is so much more organized and I can actually see what I have in there. I may order a couple more boxes so I can finish organizing the rest of my lip products.

I am really happy with my purchase and the company’s customer service. I placed my order and a day later I received an e-mail from the company notifying me that the boxes were on backorder and would be shipped immediately upon receipt. I only had to wait a week, so that wasn’t too bad!

Hope you guys check out http://www.sharodan.com/. They offer a variety of organizational items as well as tools for makeup artists, makeup consultants, etc.

By the way, I know most people put out disclaimers about the products they talk about. I think I will do the same. Everything I have talked about so far in this blog has been purchased by me. I’m not affiliated with any companies nor do I get paid to blog. I am simply sharing my thoughts on things I have purchased; companies I have purchased from, etc.

Cosmetics Company Outlet Goodies

A couple of weeks ago I headed to my local CCO to take a peek and I picked up a few items.  For those who do not know what CCO is...well, it's one of the happiest places on earth!  HA!!  No seriously, it is!

CCO stands for Cosmetics Company Outlet and there are several throughout the country.  I don't know of any outside the US but don't quote me on that.  At CCO's, you can purchase discounted (at least 30% off) high end brands such as MAC, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, etc.  Most of the items are surplus and/or discontinued items and they are genuine products.  It's great!!

Here are a couple links to where you can find your local CCO: Cosmetics Company Outlet Stores and  MallSeeker .  Now, I don't think this is 100% accurate.  The CCO that I go to in Auburn Hills, MI is not listed in either of these lists.  You can definitely use this as a guide though.

On to my goodies!  I only picked up 3 items.  I will do swatches and a look using them in another post.   I got 2 eyeshadows - Fashion and Love Lace and 1 Mineralized Blush - Buddy Up

Each eyeshadow was $10.25 and the blush was $16.25.  You gotta love the prices!  Normally MAC shadows are $14.50 in the pot and Mineralized blushes are between $21-$23.  Not too shabby, huh?

Well, I gotta run...my youngest rugrat needs to be tucked in!!

Deal of the Day - Tarte Cosmetics 40% Off!!!!!!
